It is when you have an event in your life where you almost die.

I would call a near-death experience a time when a person accidentally does something, and they're done doing what they did, and they look at what they did and realize how close they came to approaching death. Ex. One time I was in my kitchen, and I slipped on some water by the sink. Well, while I was falling down face-wise, my eyes closed and my arm instantly reacted by grasping onto the sink. Once the underside of my left bicep and my left forearm (my arm) gripped onto the inside of the sink and held up my upper body that was on the outside of the sink, I came to the realization that I had a firm grasp on it and my eyes instantly opened. When they opened, I was staring straight down at a drawer that I had left open with a screw driver head pointing up for some odd reason about 5 inches away from my eyes and forehead area. Once I saw that, I said "Oh My God" and moved my head back and down and slowly fell on my knees, letting my arm's strength maneuver me down slowly. Once I got on the ground, I looked for the water, cleaned it up, and closed the drawer. After that, I was in awe. This is my idea of a near death experience.
