Young children emulate their parents, so if you've been doing the majority of the potty training, this might be part of the reason.... you have really nothing to worry about long term, he will eventually begin to stand on his own, it just may take some time. Good luck and best wishes in the process!!

A friend of mine told me that her husband sits to pee. I don't know how common that is, but I guess some guys don't like to stand. What's worse are girls who try to pee standing up--the ones who "hover" and make a mess for the next person!

Just allow him to set on the potty and pee as he gets older he'll learn to stand. Good Luck!

Let him. So many things can just be left alone, without making a big issue out of them. There will be enough serious problems later without making this one of them. Just make sure he sees Daddy (or whoever) standing up and one day he'll be doing it too.

Find Dr. Christopher Green's book Toddler Taming. It basically says that so much stuff is not worth getting upset over, and it's a very relaxing, empowering book for parents.

Let him. He will stand and pee when he is ready. He may not like to watch it come out. It is kinda weird to watch yourself pee. I don't mean to be weird or sick it just is. My nephew only wanted to pee standing when he was outside. They do have pee guards for potties for boys

Ps You can use Cherrios to teach him to aim

THat is how im training my sis baby sitting kid ... He just turned 2 and he is doing really good..And now he gets really excited to aim at the cheerios..

Being a mom of two boys, I will tell you, if I could do it all over again, I'd teach them to pee like a girl. They miss too much standing up, and guess what? You'll have to clean it up!

here is what i did with my son. Drain the toilet and paint red circles in the bottom so it looks like a target and then glue a nickle or dime or quarter doesnt matter what . Then fill it back up with watter tell him each time he goes potty and hits the target he gets a nickle dime or quarter. THen there is no cleaning to do when he is done
