Haven't heard anything about him retiring, no.
"You’re supposed to take the title from the champion; they gave it to him. I’ll continue fighting until I feel it’s time for me to retire. I’ll retire on my terms. Right now I’m looking forward to my next fight and want it to be for the title against Valuev.”

So he's trying to get that rematch with Valuev, but WHY? He hasn't got what it takes to defeat the big guy - not that great technical skills, not quite fast enough, not adequate stopping power... he'll just lose again. The last fight was a bore, so maybe he's planning to be defeated in a more spectacular way next time? Well, best of luck to him.

These guys are brutal on John Ruiz aren't they? lol Actually I would watch the match just for the fact that I have never seen Nikolai Valuev fight anyone. Whether Ruiz is boring or not makes no difference the fact is he is a good legitamate heavyweight. He beat Rahman and Hollyfield so he deserves a little bit of respect. Everyone talked about how boring Hopkins was but he earned people's respect in the end. Ever since he beat Trinidad critics started to change their tune. I can't blame a boxer for doing what it takes to win. If you are in against a better boxer sometimes you have to be a smarter boxer. I think there is a good chance of a rematch especialy if Shotime or HBO thinks they can make some money on it.

LOL, make money?? Make Money and John Ruiz are not compatible terms to be used in conjunction unless you use "no" in front of "Make". If you want to try to recoup losses from his previous fights you could hand him a rickshaw and taxi people up and down the Vegas strip.

Geez...I sure hope not for the overall good of the sport. Ruiz seems like a decent enough guy, but he has to be the most boring fighter of my lifetime. I guess a guy has to do what gives him the best chance of winning, but his "clutch and grab" fight style is brutal to watch (and not "brutal" in a good way!). More importantly, his manager Norman "Stoney" Stone is another guy I never want to see in a boxing ring. He needs to take his pro wrestling style to the WWE where it belongs. I'm not sure if Ruiz has "officially" retired or not, but I sure don't think he belongs in the mix of top heavyweights.

its going to be called "ZZZZZZZZZ" snoring may drown out corner's instructions between rounds. And for the record Ruiz is Puerto Rican not Mexican as someone said earlier.

Watching those two clowns fight is enough of a punishment. Do we have to have a rematch.
