If I theoretically had the registration slip for a van that was no longer in my position, what should I do with it?

Actually I have the title and it was abandoned, so I don't know who has it...

Report the van stolen, then the cops will bring it back to you.
...and if you want sell it after that

I'll assume that you got a duplicate title and then found the original, correct? Just tear up the original; it's worthless as legal title has been transferred to the new owner. Any attempt to do anything else with it will be quickly discovered as fraud and the cops will have a nice set of bracelets for you to try on.

BTW, if all you have is the registration slip it's quite useless. A reg slip is NOT a title!

Theoretically (and actually) you should mail it to the person who bought the van from you.

Give the pink slip to the person who has posession of it now.

If it's gone, rip it in pieces.
