Well honey if your mom has been letting you watch them this long, I most certainly dont see the harm in letting you continue watching them, unless it is truly effecting your behaviors. Go see the psych...they are fun anyways! LMAO~Just use the time to make yourself smarter~it is so much fun to play with a shrinks head! Try not to fight with your mom to much, I am sure she loves you and she might just be trying to right a wrong a little too late...Good luck-Mom of 4

My brother in law is the SAME story as you. He is seeing a counseler too. Counseling is doing nothing for him. He is 23 years old. He is very depressed. He does not leave the house much. He can not hold a normal job. He doesn't have a girlfriend. Or never has(He's handsome too) There is an imprint on the sofa were he watches t.v. all day. He has loved horror movies his whole life and wants to make them professionally too. He does direct and film his current horror movie sometimes. He did get through high school but his life has gone downhill fast ever since. You are still young. Please listen to your mom. Focus on what's important in life. You have sooooo much potential. Great things await you if you choose it. A hobby like this is fine but don't let a thing like horror movies be the main thing you do. Trust me, you should see my brother in law.
the rest of my 2 cents:
I would say maybe it's not affecting your mind as much as your spirit. Horror is the opposite of good. I personally would want to be a person that eminates "goodness". You should take a deep look at who you are. What kind of man do you want to be? Focus on school, go to on college get some "healthy" skills so you can become a good husband , father and productive member of society. Take it from me, you do not want to be a disfunctional horror addict. It's not pretty.
good luck

Hmm, interesting question. I don't believe watching horror movies makes you violent unless you have violent tendencies. It does aggravate violent tendencies because it desensitizes you to it's affects. Yes, I know that it's irritating because you've been doing it for a long time and now she's making an issue of it, but for yourself you should consider leaving the hardcore stuff behind. What do I mean by hardcore? Anything that treats cruel and psychotic torture and/or murder of innocent human beings (or any for that matter) as clever or even humorous. Maybe you won't turn into a killer, but you'll find that your inappropriate gratuity (or should I say your irreverence toward certain things that should shock you) won't be welcome in some situations and you won't be able to make yourself feel the way others who are not desensitized do.

Your mom must be worried that the movies are effecting your thoughts. Are u doing well in school? Try and leave the movies alone for a while til all this blows over. I know you love your mom and would not want to upset her. Take it easy on the horror for a while

Yes. I expect your psychiatrist will be disapproving. If you enjoy horror films, and you want to be a horror filmmaker, you may be able to explain your goals to a sympathetic psychiatrist.

Listen to me carefully.
1. Never listen to your parents.
2. Buy a copy of Vampire Biker Babes when it comes out next month.
3. Hide it somewhere or keep it at a friend's house.

I wouldn't think they do. Just make sure you are not wanting to actually "act out" any of this violent mess in real life.
Sounds like the normal teen/parent conflicts to me.
