Since decorating with 3 main colors is best you might want to put the orange in your kitchen and use a pale yellow for the living space walls.Use a yellow that is about two shades lighter and in the same color family as your curtains.Yellow is inviting, warm, and cheerful! You would still have the orange in the curtains and you could use some orange in the accents. The black will be a good anchor color for the bright yellow and green and accent of orange. I think it might be a better long term choice.Best wishes and have fun making your home a happy place for you and your daughter's!

Well, I'm a guy and certainly no expert in colors, but I've always thought that Blue goes well with Red. Black gives more of Gothic feel to it, but could look good for a while. I personally like Navy Blue, but a Sky Blue might give a better contrast. The idea of painting just one wall isn't bad either, but that would give a Red, White, Blue theme that seems to get a little over used. (I'm personally a fan of the scheme though) come to think of it, Silver or maybe a Grey might not look too bad either. I'm sure whatever you choose will look great: girls just have that way with colors.

I'd do the curtains in more of a contrast color--maybe a dark blue with yellow in, would really pop on orange walls. I personally love orange, actually, especially when it's mixed with earthtones, but you're definitely wanting huge color--and I think it's an excellent choice.

definitely. it will look better than it sounds. had a relative to do the same, she has a good sense of style and it worked. the colors e compliment each other in a strange way.make sure you want to see"loud" everyday. however, once you have it finished, you can always make adjustment to soften if needed. go for it, take a walk on the wild side. what counts is that YOU like it.

Green goes well with yellow and not orange.
Dont use orange for ur walls. Use off white or white shades.
Use tints of yellow shades for ur curtains.

I would never use the orange in your case.. I would go with a soft, warm, wheat beige.. .light beige but NOT the gold color of wheat, the beige color.

I agree with your daughters. I would go with a more neutral color because of all the other colors you mention.

I think that sounds great. Just make sure it is an earthy orange.. Not too neon! Kind of retro-yet chic!
