My mom told me that and I don't believe her. I think it's just her way of trying not to get me to dye my hair blue. So, can it?

In today's world, anything can cause cancer. Breathing air can cause cancer. Your deodorant can cause breast cancer; active ingredient, aluminum zirconium.

I think that your mom is being a mom and does not want to see her child with blue hair.

Everyone reacts differently to different products. I have been dying and used to perm my hair, when I was 13 yrs old. I started dying my hair because it actually thickened my hair.

Try and start with a color that is not going to scare your mom. You can go to a beauty store like "Sally's" and they have temp hair coloring. The staff there can talk to your mom and put her mind at ease.

You also need to prove to your mom that you are mature enough for the responsibilities of dying your hair. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but I'm a mom now. Knowing that someday my little girl will want to change the color of her hair scares me. Not in a bad way, it's just means that she is growing up and wants her own identity. That is probably the issue that your mom may be dealing with.

There have been some studies indicating this is so. Use a Natural Dye or just do the surface of your hair, like highlights. The chemical exposure is allot less.
