If it pleases me, it's good. If it displeases me, it's bad. This isn't rocket science.

Good and bad can be determined by two things: 1) Action and 2) Intent.

1) We can judge people's actions.

2) Intent is harder to determine.

So, if the action is helpful, kind, loving and nurturing, we can deem that action or the source of that action as good. The only trouble is we do not know the intent, and as a result, we cannot know definitely whether something is good, bad, or neither.

I.e. Good Action and Bad Intent
- A guy says he loves a girl without really loving her, but just wanting to sleep with her.

In this instance, although the action may have appeared to have been good, the intent was not pure, and thus we cannot call the action nor the source of the action as good.

All bad things are rooted in self pride. As an example sadness is based in anger and anger comes directly from pride. For easier to understand day to day types of specific examples of wrongs that you can just practice without understanding the Holy scriptures are full of them. Reading the scriptures is good for you anyway.
Lets entertain one of our cultures evil things. We are told that success is a worthy goal. In the USA it is measured most often as income. Bank account. The Bible states in Mat. Jesus speaking that it is not a good idea to store capitol up. Investing in things for profit, again Jesus says charging interest is wrong. Overall our idea of success is against Biblical teaching. Being successful in helping people would on the other hand be a good thing as long as we are not doing it for recognition. If I were answering this question to get points or show how smart I am that would be evil easily tracked back to pride. It is not an easy question you ask and our culture promotes evil so many of us are confused. This confusion and what results(decadence) is one of the reasons that Arabs (muslims) do not want our influence on their children

I go on a gut feeling, usually if I'm doing something bad or see something bad I'm filled with guilt, dread, or something of the same. When I believe something is good I'm calm, happy, something like that.

Then there are those who find thrill rides and crimes an exciting thing that makes them happy, if you know that your grandma would slap you for it's definitely bad!

If you could be loved by all people for one act and NOT have some underlying scheme than it's probably good.

Well see if you can make heads or tails of that. ^.^

I think, if i understand what you are asking, that we have an inate sense of good and bad--some more so than others. But as a Christian, I turn to the Bible to tell me what pleases God and what doesn't. Personally, I try to be honesty, kind and live a life of integrity. Am I always successful - no that is my sinful human nature.

Looking in the Bible helps us know if something's good or bad. This is where God tells us the difference between right and wrong among many other things.

Before doing something you must think: would this hurt me or anyone around me? if the answer is yes, then you have just knocked on the door of bad. If the thing your about to do is beneficial to you or others around you, then it is good!
