I have always hated my hair, its curly and frizzy. my dream is to get it Chemically Striaghted. i know this isnt permanent (and yes, ive been told it does damage your hair). but im willing to take th risk. im just wondering how damaging it really is, and how does it work? and how long does it last? do u still have to blow dry it everyday? im very much considering getting this done. I pay money to have it straighted at the hairdressers regularly, coz i cant do it myself. so its well worth the money for me. please help!

Personally, I dont know how to do the procedure. A lady at my salon does it to her young daughters hair. Her daughter has very long, thick, curly and coarse hair. Her hair is now strait but does look a little damaged but as bad as it did when she had it curly. With the right products like bed head's dumb blonde and bio silk's silicone balm, your hair will look nice and healthy again.

When you get this procedure, it is pricey and is permanent. You may still have to blow dry in order to enhance your strait locks. You will need to do the roots a few times but that will not be as nearly expensive as the first time you get it straitened. Some customers swear that their hair grows strait after a few times of getting their roots done.

My co-worker and her daughter love it and seems to be lower maintenance for them.

You can color you hair, just dont lighten it with peroxide because that will cause breakage. You cannot get you hair chemically straitened if you have had your hair chemically lightened before, your hair will break off due to over processing.

Most folks, possibly like you, cannot use straiteners becuase of the nature of their hair (texture). No matter what straitener you use, you hair will still curl.

You must find a cosmetologist that has a lot of experience with this in order for it to work. If one step is missed or left out, the hair will go back to the same way it was before. And some styists use cheaper brands in order to make a bigger profit.

I too have curly frizzy hair with lots of "fly aways" so i can really relate to your frustration. However, i do not advise you to get it chemicaly straitned because it doesnt really work!! I tried it 3 times years ago. My sis is a stylist and does my hair and before that i had someone else try too!! It damages your hair worse than coloring it, very dry split ends and it doesnt really make it strait, and yes you do still have to blow dry it out everytime to get any effect!
My advise to you is to get it colored ( just a starburst on top, light foiling etc) because the damage that coloring causes makes your hair a little "stiff" and easier to work with. Then invest in a " Farouk CHI" it's a great flat iron that all good stylist use ~cheaper on ebay and worth every penny.!!! With a little coloring "stiffness" and blowdry your hair, and use a CHI to straiten it all out. Buy a good mirror so u can see the back of your head too!! It is a bit of a pain in the butt to do everytime, but if you want strait silky hair, this is the BEST way to go. Also buy some CHI syrum to more shine and silkyness!! I've straitend my hair this way for the last 6 years and I get tons of complements all the time. It's a lot of work, but you'll look great!!!

My hair is naturally wavy, and gets kinda frizzy when i'm in the humidity, or even outside for a long period of time. i do have to blow dry my hair every day, and i use a straightner on it...but you know, it still looks very healthy and very shiny. i also tried a new shampoo and conditioner from Pantene...it's called Pantene Restoratives..and it's one called Frizz Control...and i really can see a difference in my hair when i use it. I know a girl who had her hair straightened with the chemicals..they call it a Japanese Straightner where i get my hair done...but anyway, the girls hair is completely fried and it looks awful...cause it's something that you would have to keep up on...and it's expensive

I am not a expert but be VERY careful when and if you do this. I have the same hair as you and was just like you went to get done very reputable salon charged $200 and my hair fell out. I can show you pictures it was horrible. I never thought or imagined that could really happen and let me tell you it did and I was in tears and still recovering from the damage that was last November. My advice would be learn to love your hair and take care of it would good products and find a style you like instead of torturing your hair.

hey, i am no hair expert still thought of giving you an answer. I think the problem is with you and not with your hair. Not everyone has curly hair. Some even follow artificial methods to curl it. Start loving what you have rather than longing for what you dont have. What do you mean by taking risks? Dont mess around with your hair using chemicals. Are you willing to take the risk of hair loss? Thats much more worse than what you think you have right now. Just a bit of advice as i have seen this happening with my friends. Thanks for your patience.

Three letters...CHI(that is most likely what your hair dresser uses)..they are pretty expensive, but they work wonders on curly hair...never ever ever do the chemical thing... it can totally fry it and if your hair is already frizzy it can just add to it!! i swear by the chi...all my friends have one and if you cant get that one a ceramic straightener works too!! just apply a straightening cream to wet hair let it dry in a towel then git r don...lol (i do L'oreal Hot Straight it protects against heat damage)no gels it makes hair look greasy and stiff !!

Try using hair gel it should work, if not use olive oil at night and keep it on all night combed straight, and fastened with bobby pins.

My son had really curly as I did, and he cut all of his off and started from stratch using gel and combing it several times a day. it 's working so far. Using
"infusion shampoo and conditioners" will help control it with out the burning of harsh chemicals.

i believe its a waste of money and time
you dont get it 100%straight
if its not done properly it can burn and melt ur hair like mine has
you can be left with sever frizz
it lasts as long as it takes to grow out usually
it's like a perm all products are different so therefor techniques and methods are different
the chemicals are harsh and dangerous do not try this urself
you need to ask your hairdresser wat she or he personally thinks.
i hate the way my hair is now due to chemical straightening and i have to deep condition it everyday and i still have to blowwave and straighten it daily

I did the chemical straighening thingy. It's actually works. For me, it takes 8 hours for straighening in salon and 200 dollars and it will work for at least a 1 yr or 1 yr and a half.
