I would not buy it. There are so many cars on the market, why risk it where you can get a better car? Think about it

A lot depends upon why it is 'salvage'. Was it collision? If so, only a GOOD body shop will put one right and if you don't know the extent of prior damages or who repaired it -- stay away. Flood? Not worth the heartache. Flood vehicles have to be repaired with the utmost care by someone familar with electronic components, suspensions, drive assys, etc. And if we're talking salt water -- forget it. The car is doomed and the time bomb is ticking. Hail damaged vehicles that have 'totaled' and repaired could be a pretty good buy as it is only appearence items that are damaged, nothing structural or mechanical. Always remember, if you ever buy one with a salvage title you are pretty much stuck with it as resale plunges like (to quote Chevy trucks) A ROCK.

If the car isn't rusted out or missing any major pieces and you are looking just for a car to drive and not take to shows a salvage car would be ok but there is also Ebay and your local newspaper I would say waiting is usually the way to go because there is always a better deal.

That's a big risk. Depends upon why it was salvaged out and how the repairs were done. Unless you know ALL of the details and that the repairs were all to original manufacturer's specifications it's best to stay away.

The asking price is a bit over half of the retail value of one in good condition but keep in mind that you'll never get much for it when you re-sell it.

Cowboy bill is right. For that price and a salvage title. What is it going to take to put it right and how much cash to keep it running.
Are you a good mechanic. So much electronics on the car. Too many flood cars out there.

There are so many good low mileage trade in cars out there.

No its almost impossible to find papers for salvage vehicles. If you can find papers and vin number do it but if not its a bad idea.
