I need to know if there is any type of mental disorder dealing with fantasy worlds or imaginary friends. Can you tell me what they are. Thanks.

Schizophrenia has symptoms like that.

Sensory delusions could be seen as 'imaginary friends' , although that's not exactly it. The brain receives sensory input that isn't there. So the person 'sees' another person; but it's the brain malfunctioning. The person 'hears' another person; again, wrong neurons firing.

Delusions of grandeur - where a person believes themselves to be super-extra-really important to the world. "I'm the only one that can save the world from the terrorists!" when really they're just Joe who pushes the mop at Starbucks.

The thing with S is that often it's not an 'innocent' friend. There is often accompanying paranoia, which can make the 'friend' convince the person that they are being watched, monitored, and stalked - and they often retaliate. The imaginary world can be dangerous.

S symptoms often appear in late teens - early 20's.

Children often have imaginary worlds and imaginary friends. That is a normal harmless part of childhood that just helps them sort out reality and deal with things like stress and uncertainty. It gives them a person and a place they can control entirely.

There is actually alot of them starting from sever depression, sever type 1 and 2 bipolar to schizophrenia. But just to be very fair some phyic medications can also cause halluinations and so can some illnesses if they are really bad and have a extremly high fever. Anything that can allter the brain functions can cause short term fantasys.

Either delusion, and/or hallucinations. Or, just being a kid.
