If you join now, there's a good chance you'll be shipped to Iraq where of course there's always the chance of getting killed in combat. Don't do it for someone else. You have to live your own life. DOn't join until you are 100% sure it's what you want to do. You can't back out once you're in.

As long as you know your options, the good, the bad & the ugly, then you will be prepared for it. If college, trade schools & the job you have don't seem to be working out for you, then joining might be your best offer.

Again, just be prepared for a tough time. Start working out & running now. While it won't be easy, the work will be hard & dangerous, realize you will have an opportunity to travel the world.

An opportunity to see things, get leadership training & real friends. You can always continue your life after you get back. But you can't join when you get too old.

Do your homework, interview some vets & get more advice. Wishing you luck.

If u wanna join the Marines, then join the Marines. You will feel proud of what you do and you'll make lots of friends, REAL friends that got your back and will take a bullet for you. It will defiently be a life changing experience. Adventure/Travel, Exciting, Frustrating, Scary, Happy, Tough, you'll go through a lot i'm sure. But that is just the way it is. I wish you the best. GOOD LUCK! and take care.

Just remember, the Marines will choose your job for you, you may be placed in a hazardous situation, you may end up a cook on a Navy vessel. Do you really want that. I encourage everyone to serve, just see what all branches can do for you...ask teh Army representative to do an FSR2S for you, then compare what you are shown to the other branches, see which will suit your needs best. Also remember, the best Marines are graduates of Army Ranger School (Force Recon).

I think you should go for it... You make good friends, good benefits, you'll travel... You might get sent to Iraq, but I hear it's not so bad... Do your research.. As long as you're happy w/ the job you have.. Definately do your research, don't just jumo into the marines.. The Army Has way better jobs, and opportunities... Good luck.. I'm also looking into joining.. I would prefer the reserves...

Do it! Just stay vigilent in what you do, keep your eyes open head down. Granted we have all lost someone while they were fighting in the war. But think of it this way, your doing what most people wouldnt dream about doing. You're gaining respect, dignity, courage, and there is nothing wrong with any of those. People that have, and will lose thier life during these times all thought this one way or another. I thought about it when I first joined (to long ago), and the chance of these things happening are there, but you just have to think of who you are doing it for, what you are doing it for. You will be alright.

WHY?

If you like dressing up in fancy clothes have you ever considered becoming a transvestite? The company you keep is probably better....
