Cats and dogs can get along fine. I know people with both. Depending on the age of your dog and if he's been around them or other animals b4 should tell u how easy of an adjustment it would be. If you mean turtles, I'm not sure about that I would think it best to keep the turtle in an aquarium up where the dog can't get at it unless you're right there to supervise. I think the cat would make a better playmate for your dog if that's what your looking for.

If you get a turtle it will not be the dogs friend. They do not group together in the wild nor will they in a domestic situation because they are completely different animals. Furthermore, having a dog around a turtle can be very dangerous to you, the turtle, and the dog. The dog can harm the turtle by being to rough with it, trying to play with it like a toy, etc.... Also turtles can carry a very deadly bacteria called salmonella. If your dog comes in contact with the bacteria it can cause a lot of contamination and potentially make you and your family very sick. As far as a cat goes I have seen many dogs and cats peacefully live together however you should expose your dog to several cats to make sure he is not aggressive towards them. Good luck!

If you want a cat, it's better to get the dog first, which is good, because you already have a dog. If you don't, the dog should be fine with the cat and the cat will be fine with the dog. If you get the cat first, then the dog will love the cat but the cat will not like the dog.
Dogs like to chew on turtles and tortoise shells. You'll have to train it not to do that.

Did you mean turtle ?
Sometimes dogs have a problem getting along with cats. All dogs have a different personality, just like humans. The question is do you want a cat or a turtle? I would just love the dog you already have because you are who the dog loves if your loving him or her right, your all they need.

I have giant breed dogs ( Great Danes and Newfoundlands) that get along wonderfully with my cat. However, one of my Afghan Hounds will hunt down and try to kill any cat he sees.... even though he was raised with the cat.
I would ask at the local shelter to have someone assist you to see if your dog will get along with a cat or not. As long as you want to adopt from the shelter... they will be more than happy to do this.
Hope I helped and good luck

Some dogs and cats get along great and some don't. You need to get them together first and see how they interact together before making a final decision.

Dogs will chew on a turtle's shell. You really have to watch the dog and train him not to use the turtle as a chew toy.
