If you have any brain left then you know what it is going to do to you so why do it? Two of my good friends are addicts and it makes me so sad because there is nothing I can say or do that will make them stop and seek help. I have thought about turning them in to the police, But our local police is a joke and because they don't "cook" it nothing will ever be done. ANY ADVICE?

Ever hear that a drowning person will take you down with them? Well, it works that way with drug users. They will exploit you until you finally stop trying to help. This includes them lying about trying to get help.

It's best just to walk away. It sounds cruel, but in the end, they will do what they are going to do. If anything, wait until they have hit bottom and then offer emotional support and minimal financial. I've been there.

Very simple question! My daughter was once married to a "meth" freak, and had been in re-hab many times. He was a painter and when he got his check on Friday he would pay the dealer, and what was left he would spend the rest of his pay check. He cost his mom & dad so many thousands of dollars that it is unreal. His sister flew in from Oragon one day, and this is Alabama, and later that night he went into her bedroom and placed a knife underneath her throat and made her get up to take him to get some "crack". Natually she was horrified. On the way to his contact she noticed a seven-eleven store with a sheriff's car in front. At about 50 MPH she wheeled in a rammed the Sheriff's car as she feared for her life. They came out with guns drawn, and almost shot her brother. He was in another world at the time.
She ran down the street, and they went after her. She told them what had transpired, and of coarse they took him to jail where he had been many times. The area that he was trying to go too, the cops don't even go there unless in full body armour.
His dad has recently passed away and where he will get his money & "meth" will be something else. He is 41 and looks 75...He will either OD, or get shot.

Miss, if they don't want to quit, I'm sorry to say there's just not much you can do. Meth is hard to get off even when someone wants to. If you pray, pray for them.

The police cannot really do much except bust them for possesion and they won't be in jail long enough to withdraw. Their families might inetervene or commit them as a last resort.\

People become addicts or alcoholic drinkers because they are unhappy.

I know...it's disgusting. One of my foster daughters was on it and off for about a year and a half. She totally changed her personality. She loved the "powerful" feeling that it gave her. And like we all know, there is nothing recreational about it's use. Once you use it, your screwed. The only advice I have for you is tough love. Love your friends, hate what they are doing to themselves. You can preach the negative effects to them till your blue in the face, and it ain't gonna matter. The choice is theirs and sadly enough, they are going to have to suffer the consequences. Very frustrating! I cut off all support but moral support. All you can do is educate yourself and be ready to support them as their good friend when they crash and burn. You can suggest treatment, and do all the interventions you want, but unless they are ready to quit, then they're not. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Just hang tough and keep that obviously good head on your shoulders. I'm sorry that I cannot give you any better advice than that, but that is basicly what I was told by psychologists, therapists, a counselor and the meth task force in out area. It's too bad your 'friends' don't appreciate your concern for them. I wish my daughter had a friend like you.....

That is the biggest problem with Meth it is so addictive. Unlike other drugs it only takes once or twice for the body to start craving it. There is very little a person can do by them selves to help someone stop it. I wish I had more to help you.

there is nothing u can do or say to make them stop. i tried to help a friend and she ended up hating me. drug addiction takes over a persons life; even if they love someone the addiction to the drug is so strong that they will lie, cheat, and steal to get their fix.

People probably do it because of pressure, or they just wanted to try it and then got hooked on it...I don't know why.But I think they need a lot of help and it's only going to get worse if you don't do something about this.

like any other habit it is much easier to start than it is to stop....it will take a lightbulb moment for them to realize that it is not the life for them...don't allow them to bring you down with them
