There are many, many countries that are not safe.
There are several countries that are safe, but not free.
There are almost no countries that are free*.

Can anyone tell me why people should try to sacrifice the freedom in this country for safety? Why shouldn't these security-lovers just move to any of the dozens and dozens of places in the world where security reigns?
Where will freedom lovers go if the security-lovers have their way HERE?

*(Notice how these FEW free countries tend to be pretty safe, too, because people know that each individual takes charge of his own safety?
That's why Japan didn't invade the U.S. on the ground during WWII, because every citizen is SUPPOSED TO BE free to arm himself! Invaders and terrorists and thugs, they don't mess around with populi in armis!)

Uncle Sam: Is there a button for WORST ANSWER?

I never said I didn't want security. I said I didn't want to trade my freedom for security.
I can have a bicycle without trading my car for it.

HOWEVER, if I get robbed and respond with force (ideally, the threat of lethal force), the police will arrest ME.
If I don't respond with force, they will never find him because he will have gotten away.

Well, if you don't want security, don't use the police when someone robs you.

What freedoms are you losing? NONE! You are just another ignorant, uninformed person that is jumping on this bandwagon of people who say we are losing freedoms when really all they are losing are some privileges that you really had no rights too in the first place. You don't like it here, move. You are FREE to do so.

I remember a time when I could walk down the street with out carrying any ID, now if you look at a cop crosseyed they throw you up against the wall and pat you down. The Patriot act is just the first step, the Next step in the christianist agenda is to eliminate the freedom of church and state clause. In the mean time the will keep us distracted with false issues like secure borders and immigration. They will also keep us divided and against one another like the white plantation owners did before the emancipation. The will keep the light colored slaves pitted against the dark color slaves, the males against the females, the field slaves against the house slaves. Then when you least suspect it we wll all be slaves again. November is the time to stand up against Bush and his cronies before we are all slaves under his white god.

We are, for the most part a safe, secure and free country. What I mean by safe is that you don't see people walking down the street with there military assault rifles slung over there shoulders. What would be safe about that? And I believe our nation is more secure from terrorist attacks than it was on 9/11/01! That's one of the reasons our government wants to crack down on the illegal immigrants. It will help secure our borders. And it is indeed a free nation! You are free to pack up and leave to go to any nation you choose to and live!

"He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither." Often attributed to Mr. Franklin but of uncertain authorship.

Are you talking about gun control? If so, why not say so? Also, I can't agree with your take on Japan and WWII.

Maybe one day someone complaining about losing freedom and liberty will actually attempt to identify the metrics on the issue.

I certainly didn't read all that and I'm sure that I didn't need to. Bottom line: your life hasn't changed a bit due to whatever security measures you cry about in your "question" above. your mind's already made up asshole, so why ask?
