$200.00-5,000.00+ It really just depends on what you want to spend and what you want to with the dog. if you want want a dog that is fully trianed in herding and what not then expect to pay over 1,000 if you want a pupppy with decent bloodlines then look around 350.00 -500.00 if you want junk then your lookin' at 0-300.00.
I
really hope that you know what your getting yourslef into. Please don't take this the wrong but if you have never owned a dog or have limited experince with dogs, limited time and and almostr no yard or palce to exerise your dog please please an other breed or get a dog from non working bloodlines. But no matter do not buy an AKC registerd pup unless you know what to look for. Do not buy a dog that was bred for conformation . These dogs are NOT border collies they are super models. A Border Collie is what it does not what it looks like. In general AKC Border Collies are not bred to herd they are bred to be well supermodels. In other words they are bred to meet the AKC Stanard and not by how they how they can or cannot herd. i'm not saying that all AKC bcs are junk i know that there are some nice AKC bc but in genearl they are. So please be careful with what you buy and do lots and lots of reserch I reserched this bred for nearly 10 years before i got one. and i have three amazing borders right now.

i hope that this helped and i'm not trying to be mean but I want make sure that you have some idea what to look for and what your about to get yourslef into. Don't take me the wrong they are amazing dogs but they are a lot of work they are almost to smart for their own good and they have so much energy. i have taken one of my dogs out to help move cattle and we worked form 7:00a.m to about 6:00 and when we were done my dog still wanted to work even though we had been working form 7:00 in the morining, and had only had four 20 min. breaks. if you would like more information or help choosing a puppy feel free to e-mail me at ocs_sparkling_princess@yahoo.com and if your interseted in adopting a rescue dog then please go bvrescue.org they are many many dogs there that need your help and a new home.

It depends. $100-200. I had a Border Collie Pure-Breed with the Tuxedo, White tie and all. Ha! Got him from a pound a few days before D-Day!!!! Best dang dog you ever seen. A local breeder loved him a we became good Friends. This man competed in those Sheep Herding Contest, he really has awesome dogs. One day I was sitting in the Hotel at a town they were competing in and of course the Egos were a Blaring. They were all talking about my dog did this and my dog did that! Heck, finally I stood up and told them; "Your Dogs are a bunch of puss*es. Heck, my dog can round up a Sausage Biscuit faster than any of your dogs can scramble the eggs" They were left speechless! They knew I had the better dog then. :-) Ha! We all had a good laugh and some guy even conceded to my dog's ability and bought my Breakfast! What was cool, the man from my town admitted to that fact. The local store always gave him a Sausage Biscuit every morning as we headed out to work.

it seriously depends. around 200.00 for a working dog. if you're getting one to show for AKC it can go up to a couple thousand.

hopefully you understand what you're getting into with a border.

they are wonderful wonderful dogs. incredibly intelligent.
they are also, destructive, extremely high energy, they can be possessive, many don't like other dogs, cats, or children. they try to herd anything smaller than their owner. this includes children.

i love my border. she is my best friend. she's the smartest dog I've ever met. I also have to run (not walk) her at least five miles a day to keep her from destroying my house.

these are dogs that need a purpose. they need a job. i got another dog for her to take care of while I'm at work because inevitably when I got home something would have been chewed on, broken, scratched, hidden, etc. but it also took me two years to find a dog she'd get along with. I now own a great pyr and a border. now i need some sheep.

border collies are usually about $200-300
you should research this breed.
they are very smart.
but, very very high energy.
they are bred to do a job. they will need to get out their energy or they have behavioral issues. they can be snappy to small children if hurt. they make great dogs as they are not sitting at home or in the backyard and become bored.
they need to get exercise everyday, games like flyball, fetch, frisbee are great ideas. jogging is good too.
they need to be brushed once a week or so, and taken to the groomer every few months, as they can develop mats on their belly and back legs.

Anything from around $120 up for a pure bred with papers. Depends on the calibre of the parents and if its a show bred dog, farm trained etc. But look at $120 as a base. Alternatively, look in classified ads like the Trading Post and Weekend papers to see what's the going price range in your area.

Not sure but you could go to your local animal shelter and find a really nice dog and maybe even a border collie who needs a home.
