Im single, have been for quite awhile, and sometimes when im at the corner store, library, grocery store, ect. i get asked ?'s like today......cough drops huh?, buying a newspaper-whats the current event. whats a good segway to say IM SINGLE!

Make sure no rings are on your fingers and that he can see it. If someone is starting up a conversation if you have time try continuing it a little by asking a question back and show interest? (Not to much) Maybe thinking of a way to answer the question with a little too much information? If asked about the newspaper could come back with something about checking out the personals if it has them in it.

I think that the only time to say you are single is if they ask- not sooner or it makes you look desparate. Some people actually just ask people questions to strike up conversations- not always hitting on the other person.
If it feels like you are hitting it off with the person you may even ask him if he is seeing anyone at this time.
