Every kid from the time that they are born til they are 18, should sleep 10-12 hours a day. Because if they don't they wouldn't function right in school or anywhere else. Everybody says 7-8 but thats not true because even adults are tired if they only get that much sleep.

Children and elderly need less sleep than adultsand I think about 6 hours of sleep should be enough for a 10 year old kid. Of course babies need a lot of sleep they have their own patterns of sleep. They sleep well if fed on times otherwise they cry.
