OK. All of the answers above mine have part of the truth.
Here are the other two parts:
1. Some employers think that their jobs require a person with a high school diploma or the equivalent. If you don't have the paper, you don't get the job.
2. Having a GED or a diploma is worth maybe $4000 more per year to you, in salary. That's about $80 a week extra, for the rest of your life, just by staying in high school.

Shows you can stick to a plan and carry it out.
Also shows you are not too much of a rebel to fit into a corporate culture and probably not a trouble maker.
Thats also why a lot of employers really like to see military service with an honorable discharge. It tells them you also know how to be part of a team that works together to get things done.

It is apparent you haven't yet applied for employment or you have not receive a call back for an interview. So, do you think having one or the other is important?
Also, if you were going to employ someone who; from between the 2 categories, would you hire first....

So that you look smarter. And then you also know how to spell and you will look somewhat smart in my point of view. Though, some high school graduates seem to be pretty dumb in these days. So... it just means you aren't going to just be doing hard labor for the rest of your life, unless you want to do that anyways.

Because it shows youre educated, plus it shows that you were able to stick with something and put the effort into it.

It shows you have basic skills: reading, writing, basic math.
It shows you finished school, you committed to something and accomplished it.
It shows you are an adult.

Today they actually require it or check it out when researching your background.
