You got a thumbs down because of the way you posted your question, I am sure. No putting cookies in his lunch is not a bad idea as long as weight is not an issue. Let him know it is for doing well in school or chores. Plus verbalize that you are proud of him for a job well done.

Wasn't sure where this question was going...not sure that cookies are a good reward what with so many kids packing on the extra pounds, but a reward system is always a good idea. A happy encouraging note would be just as pleasing.

Yes, I reward them but I ain't grabbing their lunch sacks, I reward them with extra privileges such as a movie on the weekend, a trip to the arcade, bowling with friends, my son is 13 and cookies wont cut it for him!! Your a Great Mom!

Yes I sure do. My son is now 17 so his rewards tend to be money. He works hard helping me around here and caring for our dogs and puppies, so I feel he should be "paid" for that extra work.
Sometimes it is a 95.00 pair of tennis shoes (ouch) that I swore I would never buy, but when they go over the top to help out they deserve the extra special. Other times I give him cash.
And I ALWAYS thank him verbally for all he does. Things and money are nice, but a hug and a thank you go a long way too;-)

I love rewarding my 14 year old daughter for her straight A's and helping around the house (especially when she unloads the dishwasher or does a load of laundry just because she noticed it needed to be done and not because I asked her to). She is amazing... :) She understands that we can't afford to reward her monetarily, but we allow her to help make the grown up decisions and we spend time with her whenever she wants it. We involve her in all aspects of our life, not just as a kid, but as a partner.

Whoa, if I hadn't read the rest of that question, you would have gotten a tongue lashing. Of course you reward good behavior. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It teaches the value of hard work and the smile on your child's face is a plus for you too!! Good going mom!!!

Your teenager must be a teenager! He cannot be good all the time and you don't have to give any rewards because he will soon think that good behavior must be rewarded:"No rewards all the time - no good behavior".
