put butter in a frying pan, butter one side of two pieces of bread. put the buttered side down into the pan, place the cheese on top, and then put the remaining piece of bread on that, butter side up. medium heat works best, when the bread turns golden brown, flip it.

OMG you are kidding, right? Here's my grilled cheese.
Butter two slices bread. Place butter side down on heated griddle. Cover one slice of bread with slices of cheese - cheddar, jack, Edam, what ever you have. Cover with the other slice of bread, butter side up.
When the cheese starts to melt, flip, and brown the other slice of bead.
If you used a mild white cheese, like jack, dress up this creation with some spicy brown mustard.
Remember, turn off the griddle!

I make grilled cheese by putting a slice of cheese between two slices of bread and then toasting the sandwich in a frying pan. some people put butter, but I prefer not to; I figure theirs enough fat in the chesse and bread crisps nicely without the added fat anyway.

Take two slices of bread, butter both sides, stick a couple slices of cheese between them and fry the sandwich until golden brown on both sides.
Some people like to put a little ham in them also

First, put your skillet on the stove to preheat. About medium heat works well.
Then butter one side of each piece of bread.
I like to put my sandwich together in the pan: set a piece of bread in the pan, butter side down, arrange your cheese, then top with second slice of bread, butter side up.
It should only take a couple of minutes to cook. The butter will get golden brown. Use your spatula to flip, then cook on the other side.

butter both sides of the bread. put a few slices of cheese in between the non-buttered sides (and a tomatoe if you so choose). then fry it up. first fry on a higher heat to get the bread golden, then on lower heat to melt the cheese... good luck!
