A quick check of currently enacted California state laws reveals only general prohibitions against driving while distracted. I found no specific mentions that using a cell phone is always illegal.

I'm not sure but here in Ct it is.I'm sure if you type in the laws for your state it will pop up just put in a search 4 it.Good Luck

In 2008 (or 2007) that law will go into action. Read it in some article.

I think it's dumb, the whole law i mean.

it has to be hands free, go threw a police check point and find out, its out lawed cuase dumb *** cell phone users were crashing into everything

According to that page, it MAY illegal, but a fine of $50 will be the penalty.

If the Senate votes yes, then it WILL be ilegal....
