Hell yeah its related! If you have an eating disorder you should definitely consult a vitamin specialist to make sure your body is getting the minimum nutrients that it needs. You dont want to get really sick right?

RE:
Is a bluish grey discoloration of the skin under your fingernails a sign of malnourishment?
I know that I have an eating disorder but so far I've been pretty good about hiding it. I seem to remember reading somewhere though that if the skin under your fingernails are more bluish grey instead of light pink it's a sign of malnourishment but I haven't been able to ever find it...

Eating disorders are NOT healthy. Surely YOU know this? An eating disorder is not something you WANT to have. Your body is showing you a lack of IRON. Iron is responsible for creation of RED BLOOD cells, and RBCs carry OXYGEN to the body to FEED the body the 02 it takes to LIVE. This is a sign you are beginning to die.
You are becoming ill throughout your entire BODY...heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, all tissues which need oxygen to operate are beginning to fail. The next thing, they will begin to shut down. After this happens, you have a very poor chance of surviving.
You have two choices....keep on and DIE...or GET HELP NOW. YOU NEED to tell YOUR MOM or DAD what you are doing and get to an ER NOW. BLUE fingernails? NO oxygen to your body!

I believe a blue tint to your nails is a sign of poor circulation, it is also known as cyanotic. I spose the poor circulation could be a sign of malnourishment. I would suggest you tell someone about your eating disorder, you need psychiatric help, being skinny is not worth dying for.

It could also be a sign of a circulatory problem. Are you under a doctor's care for your eating disorder? It is very important to get treatment because it is a progressive illness. It can get worse to the point of killing you.

This is a sign of no oxygen - you could lose your fingertips and possibly your fingers! Get to a doctor - you need some help.

Please please please get help for your eating disorder. It's more than likely that it's doing something very bad to you, even if this fingernail thing isn't a manifestation. You're worth it!
