hi, i'm in san antonio too. sorry to hear you are not feeling well. have you tried telling your family doctor, they may be able to give you a referral and/or medication. if not, i have heard good things about Dr. Harry Croft, think he is a psychologist.

My Mother and my Grandmother both have anxiety attacks. I just started having them in January 2006. I am 30 years old. My arms would tingle like they were numb and my blood pressure would sky rocket 180/120. I am now seeing a psychiatrist who is just there to prescribe me medicine. I am taking Prozac and Xanax Xr. I really feel that the Xanax is making the most difference. I used to take Xanax when I needed it, but now I am calm as can be the whole day. I take it before I go to bed. Next month my doctor is going to start lowering my dose of Prozac. He told me that this was heredity. My Mom just takes something when she gets them now. I think if you find the right doctor he can help you with medicine. I figure it's there to help. Why not take it. It has helped me so much! Good luck!

The combination of Wellbutrin SR and Lexapro is a good way to go. You need to see your family doctor or a psychiatrist if your general practioner doesn't prescribe psychiatric drugs. In addition you need psychotherapy with a clinical psychologist to learn what you need to know about yourself and to learn ways to help you through. It could be a long time venture but remember that what's happening is biochemical. Its not your fault.
Choices of ways to get started include calling or seeing your GP for a recommendation. If you like your GP chances are pretty good you'll like who he/she recommends. Follow the instructions about medications exactly. They will help you but only if you do what you're taught.

You can get a recommendation for a psychologist from either your GP or your psychiatrist. It will take some time to acclimate to each other but really only good can come of it. You don't get well, you just learn how to do life better.

Its scary but you really need to start for your own sake. Good luck to you and take very good care of yourself.

I would go to a psychiatrist to be evaluated to see if you need to be put on meds. Call information and ask for Community Health. If you can't find a number there call your local health department.
