There is no known cause for cankers (apthous ulcers). Some have thought it to be a localised infection following minor trauma, others an autoimmune disorder or a Vit B deficiency, but no scientific proof.
Hence there is no "cure". However, the symptoms are best alleviated with a waterproof corticosteroid ointment (Kenalog in Orabase). Dry the ulcer with a tissue and apply a small amount 2x daily after meals. The pain will ease quickly, and the lesion will heal more quickly. Most people seem to grow out of them in time.

Ambesol is a numbing agent that mothers put on their teething babies. Some people use it on canker sores to take away some of the pain. It can also be used for a tooth ache. But Ambesol will not cure a canker sore.
Put a little baking soda on it. It will sting at first, but it helps it heal faster.
Good luck.

I think I used Anbesol many years ago for Canker Sores. If it has Aluminum, I wouldn't use it again. You need to check your PH balance. something you are eating is causing them. Call a Dentist office, and see what they recommend. I also think that the Laurel sulphates in toothpaste are treacherous.
I just use a natural product from a good Health food store, and my teeth and gums are dynamite.
Booze and smoking also gets the gums. Been drinking any Tequila lately.? 2 Killya. Stay with high end, if you must party.
Use a soft tooth brush ( I use electric), and brush after everthing you eat and drink, besides water. Brush YOUR Tongue Rinse with mild salt-water...MILD .... Go get em..

A half and half mixture of your favorite (yuk) antacid liquid. (like mylanta) and liquid Benadryl. The antacid normalizes the Ph in your mouth and the Benadryl numbs the sores. Mix a small amount together and rinse in your mouth for a minute or so. Spit it out.

Go to the doc and get a prescription, those are normally stronger. I think ambesol will only numb it, not help it heal. Ambesol is for toothaches.

Stop eating the offending food that caused them. I used to get them too, and haven't had one, since I eliminated the foods I am sensitive to
