Be yourself, be absolutely honest (loving honest about who you are, not nasty honest about their faults), and build upon the foundation of trust which is what a marriage (the whole point of being a fiancee') is all about. Support your fiancee' in a moral sense, be a person to talk with and have fun with and discuss serious things with.

And above all, don't get all wrapped up in the wedding, don't spend a ton of money on the "big day" if it will just make you fight over how in debt you are for then next several big years -- it ain't worth it, McGee!

there is no such thing as the best fiance/husband/wife. you are not perfect and you should accept that. you will make mistakes in your relationship, as will your significant other, but the thing is that you learn from those mistakes and grow as people together. if you both can work as a team in your relationship, then you have a good chance at being together forever.

i'd start by not trying to be something other than what i am. the "best" means no surprises. nothing worse than the thought of saying "i do" and going home with dr. jekyll and mr. hyde. trying to build on anything false means your first mutual home will be a house of cards.
