Yes she can end up resenting him. The big problem for the guy is the fact that the world tends to see men as the breadwinner...and so he will always be handed the check, he will always be trying to keep up with her financially. It takes a fairly secure male to deal with it. The key, in my opinion, is to keep the communication going. And to keep repeating to yourself, that the world may not value things sensibly. Is a pro basketball player better than the best teacher? Is a shiny crystal really worth 3 months of salary? If the two agree that what they do is of equal merit, and are willing to talk, then anything is possible.

in our country, it is now the trend for women to be breadwinners because women have more employment opportunities than men have whether locally or for overseas employment. From what I observed, if male egos were deflated, they didn't have much of a choice, because in my opinion, they reaped the benifits of it anyway - for some, they don't really mind. And yes the women oftentimes end up resenting this set-up because for a long time, it had been the male who do the work and the toiling and women were just for support, and now it's the other way around. Some studies show that there's a rising trend for separation too because of this set-up.

Everyone is different, but from experience I notice that nowdays the guys think *woohoo* (it certainly was not like that years ago when the majority of men felt like it was their place to support their family). In many many instances yes, the woman will get fed up..nobody likes to carry the whole load all of the time, it gets very heavy.

If both people are genuinly hard working, there shouldn't be a problem.
Many couples I know have that situation and the man ends up taking care of the kids and works part time, while the wife is a surgeon or whatever.

this is a tough balancing act
yes ego deflated, and
i resented him for about 3 years. i finally had to give that up though for the sake of my sanity i decided i wanted to stay with him rather than be alone. i encouraged him to follow his bliss so to speak.
today he teaches private art lessons drawing and painting
we have become closer than ever.

If you are in a true relationship, you are a team, and as long as both parties are working to their potential, it is more than okay for the woman to make more money. She must not, however, gloat over it and make the other feel disrespected. Who's to say that next month she doesn't loose her job and now he makes more. You are a team and that is just one of the little things that doesn't need to be dwelled over.

that situation should be acceptable nowadays. if that happened thirty or fifty years ago, it definitely would suck.
anyway, accpetability of that situation depends so much on the openness of both the woman and the man. if this is not discussed openly, it could hurt the man's ego and the woman could belittle the man's abilities in general.

for me its ok... As long as you the man think thats he's worthless...
but im sure No man will ever think that way, so its not OK that a woman to be a breadwinner. Man will never do that to a women, if they do, just leave them.

I've been in this situation before and it takes a man comfortable with himself to make it work. The majority of men can't deal with it. Just make sure you have the right man by your side.
