this is the three aspects of the moon the [ ) ] is the waxing moon (as the moon gets bigger to the full moon) the [ ( ] is the waning moon (as the moon gets smaller to the new moon) and the 0 is the full moon itself, implicit in this image is also a vacant empty new moon. but it represents the three aspects of women as well, the maiden who is a girl in her waxing years and still a virgin, a mother who is at her pinnacle the nurturing mothering years and lastly the crone a old woman past menopause who only has wisdom to share in her waning years.
