I found a cookie recipe contest on TopCookbooks.com and it's making me want to bake cookies.

Does anyone have any good cookie recipes??

Sugar Cookies
1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup shortening or butter*
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/4 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

In a large bowl cream the shortening and the sugar. Add the eggs, extract, and milk. In a medium bowl mix the dry ingredients with a wire whisk. Add the dry ingredients to the large bowl. Mix with mixer until well combined. With hands, shape dough into a ball. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Roll** half or 1/3 dough at a time, keep the rest refrigerated. For crisp cookies, roll dough, paper thin. For softer cookies, roll 1/8 " to 1/4" thick.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes about 2 dozen.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup (8oz) butter or margarine
1/2 cup (4oz) granulated sugar
1/2 cup (4oz) medium brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla essence
2 1/2 cups (11 oz.) white flour
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
6 oz. coarsely chopped nuts (pecans are nice)
8 oz. plain chocolate chips (or chop up a chocolate bar)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to just under 350 F. Cream butter and sugars, then beat in eggs. Sift flour with salt and soda, and beat in. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Bake on a greased tray for 8-10 minutes, until colouring slightly at the edges.

Peanut Butter Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 cups flour, sift or stir before measuring
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
PREPARATION:
Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder; set aside. Cream shortening, peanut butter, and sugars; beat in vanilla and egg. Stir in flour mixture, blending well. Shape mixture into 3/4-inch balls; place on greased baking sheets.

Best Butter Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted or stirred before measuring
dash salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
blanched almond halves
PREPARATION:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir dry ingredients into butter mixture; mixing until well blended. Shape dough into small balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets; press an almond half into the top of each ball. Bake butter cookies at 300° for 20 minutes, or until just lightly browned. Makes 5 to 6 dozen butter cookies.

Take the recipe off Toll House Choc. Chip Cookies follow the directions except for shortening use the Crisco baking sticks, add finely shopped Walnut pieces, touch of almond flavoring no choc chips leave them out, bake according to the instructions and you get, Walnut Wonders. or get the Betty Crocker Cook Book older copies better and use any cookie recipe in it. Always follow a recipe if it says mix ingredients separately do that like dry ingredients mix well before adding other ingredients. Ok go win a contest.

Peanut Butter Crisps

1 Cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened and divided
1 Cup sugar
1/4 Cup light corn syrup
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 2/3 Cups (10 oz. package) Reese's Peanut Butter Chips
2 Cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
granulated sugar

In large mixer bowl, beat together 3/4 cup butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add corn syrup, egg, and vanilla; blend well. In medium microwave-safe bowl place peanut butter chips and remaining 1/4 cup butter. Microwave at high 1 to 1 1/2 minutes; stir until smooth when stirred. Blend into butter mixture. In separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add to peanut butter mixture, blending well. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm enough to handle. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll dough into 1-inch ball, roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. About 5 dozen cookies.

Make a standard chocolate chip cookie recipe such as toll house and add 1 and 1/2 t. of espresso powder and nuts. Nummy!

3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)

Combine sugar & egg til smooth, then stir in peanut butter quite well.

Roll dough into balls, place on Pam-sprayed cookie sheet, flatten tops w/ tines of fork.

Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 10 minutes, let cool 1 minute.

There ya go! I love 'em!
