sweety, it doesn't matter what religion you are...afterall a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, no? I'm a hindu too...and I plan on naming my child sera...when i told my parents, they freaked...saying it's a white name...but now they have come around...I think it's more impt that you like the name, and that you think ur child will like the name too...personally, i prefer the latter...it's more unique.. :) and if they want to indianize the name...just call her rena for short...true? lol

Serena will always be easy to spell and she won't have any confusion about it. Sarena will just confuse people. I'd stay with Serena, it's a beautiful name.

I like Serena better -it's very pretty, has Latin root that means peace and serenity, and it also has an international connotation,so she will not have problems if she decides to travel or live abroad
Sarena is also nice, but I like the first one better. Just a personal preference

I think the name Serena is pretty. I guess the people telling you the name is Catholic (like a name is a religeon), are thinking you should have a more "Indian" name since you are Hindu. Don't change the name now. She's almost a year old. If they don't like it to bad. If you want to you could call her Sere (sahree) for short?

Don't bring religion into the name. I'm catholic, but my name - Elizabeth - is Hebrew. Who cares?
I like Serena, because it makes me think of calm (the word serene). It is a beautiful name. Serena is a latin name, not catholic.
I think it is silly to change your daughters name now that she is 8 months old.
Leave it be.

I like Sarena better but Serena is more commonly used to spell the name so if you use Sarena more people might misspell it.

Hey, Don't listen to everyone else. You keep your baby's name the way you have it. There is no little manual book with all Catholic names in it. That is ridiculous saying that is a catholic name because of the way it is spelled.
Just keep your head up and tell them you named your baby and you like the way your baby's name is spelled and they need to accept it.
