If you marry an American to stay in this Country you can and will be charged with Fraud..............

A visa may be denied for various reasons, for example (but not limited to):

if the applicant has committed fraud or misrepresentation in the requirements;
if the applicant is felt to be intending to stay permanently while applying for a temporary visa;
if the applicant does not have a genuine reason for their journey;
if there is already an immigration problem in the country the applicant intends to visit;
if the applicant is asking for a resident visa and has no visible means of sustenance;
if the applicant has a criminal record;
if the applicant does not have a good moral character;
if the applicant is considered to be a security risk;
if the applicant is a citizen of a country with whom the host country has poor or non-existent relations (for example, United States of America rarely grants visas to North Korea citizens and vice versa).

What can you do? First of all, if you're "illegal" status, I suggest you renew your visa - but then again you should've thought about that already.

I have a better idea - Move back to your own country. We have enough illegals already.

So, you want to marry an American man? Figures - You're an illegal who has no self respect or any respect for this country to do things the right/moral/legal way. I'm sure your husband would be thrilled to know you used him for citizenship.

Your profile says you don't speak much English - I suggest you study that hard and learn some history of the United States before you make plans on living here. If you're going to be an American citizen, I suggest you act like one. One nation, one language.

Just so you know, it's completely heartless to marry someone just because you want to remain a citizen. Save the man the heartache that you'd plan on marrying and renew your visa instead.

* * Just so all you people who claim we're being racist.. I'm white - she's white, so how does that make me a racist? Just because I want to keep my country free of illegal saps doesn't mean I'm a racist. Stop trying to use the race card - It's old news and totally played out.

IF you find someone to marry, they have to petition for a fiance visa and get it approved. There are stipulations involved, and fees. Then, you apply for a green card, and after a certain amount of time you can apply to become a citizen.
You can't just marry an american, anymore. They took that law off the books about four or five years ago.

Do you have any idea how disrespectful you are??!! You come here on a legal visa and then want to completely disregard our laws so you can stay! To get married just to stay here is disgusting and you might as well advertise yourself as a prostitute! Just make a sign and carry it around that says "will consumate marriage for greencard" My advice: GO BACK TO RUSSIA And get here the right way! If you break the laws to get here and stay then what the hell can we expect from you in the future! We have enough lawbreakers... GO HOME!

you people dont understand how hard it is to pend a visa. Its a tedious process that only a select few can grasp. So american born like me should be more appreciative of the people who work their asses off to come here. only the smartest and the brightest can come here.

Us? born in America? We dont work as hard, yet we are automatically a citizen just because our parents are americans

I don't think you will have any trouble finding an American man who will marry you to make you legal.

The websites are full of dating sites out of Russia, that are scam artist.

It is so bad that some lady in Russia, posted a website where she list all of the dating sites that are a scams out of Russia.

There appears to be a very big market of men from many different countries searching the dating sites for a female woman to marry from Russia.

Have no idea where the love factor comes to play as they seem to just rush over to Russia to meet their bride to be.

This is after only a few contacts on the internet.

One think I do know as a clinical psychiatrist who does not reside in the United States, is that the majority of these men don't marry for love. The women find themselves abused and require the need of a Social Service Agency to help get them out of thier mess.

You could be one of those victims, being your husband to be may hold it over your head that he was the one who made you legal. (Food for thought!!).

Apply for an extension if you can, or go back home to Russia and be safe and sound.

Go to the immigration webpage. However, if you have overstayed your visa there will likely be problems with your doing the paperwork from here. If your visa had still been valid, it might have been different.

And then, they look closely for fraud.

Wow so much racism. She was just asking a question. Maybe she met someone here that she likes and wants to marry for love but is worrying about being illegal still. I think its fine if she wants to stay here, as long as she does it the legal way ^_^ .

Marriage to an American guarantees your stay in the US because you are now a spouse of an American. Thus, after marriage, register your new status and you will be given the proper status by the Immigration and Naturalization Services.

It is ILLEGAL to marry for the purpose of obtaining citizenship. They check it out to make sure the marriage is legit, which in your case it would not be if you married to stay. Then you would be in big, American trouble and you don't want that!
