Im an army wife and you need a good pair of hair clippers, a steady hand and knowledge of what you are doing. Go along to the next appointment or two and watch the stylist. Pay attention to the type of tools used, how they are held, that is how I learned but besides that. For a fade I Use a number 2 clipper guard on the top and no guard at the bottom, then raise the clippers up to fade it. But for a flat top you need a flat topper comb. Good Luck

Hi. Honestly it will take a lot of practice. Start with using smaller attachments for the buzz cutter and then a bit more each time. If you mess up, and you will for a few months.. buzz it. Then you really wont have to worry about paying for cuts. Baby steps.
Good Luck.
It is an art form.

If not sure, try & if it does not work, give him a buzz cut. It grows back fast. Then try again until you figure it out.
Ask the other wives & have one of them come & show you.
Military wives are very supportive of each other.
Good luck!

Take him to the barber shop. If you don't know, you will mess it up.
If you want to do something nice for him, give him some other kind of trim...
