Absolutely not. I used to be in the military and was briefed by the California Highway Patrol every year. If you have a drnk and person and pour black coffee (or any other caffinated beverage) down their throat you will have a wide awake drunk. The only thing that will take away the affects of alcohol is time. Food, liquids, cold showers and anything else will not work. And BTW the breath test can see right through any gum, candy or mint and mouthwash will actually raise the alcohol level on the test.

Alcohol actually rushes through the body faster when you drink water causing a more drunken effect. If you want to slow absorption eat breads and other foods that would absorb the alcohol making it go through your body slower. If you drink on a full stomach you're much less likely to get more then a buzz unless you're a full on alcoholic.

You get a hangover from dehydration. Thus you want to rehydrate yourself before going to bed. Fructose (found in orange juice) helps the body to metabolize alcohol. In the ER one of the first things we check with alcohol intoxication is a blood sugar level.

If you want to stop the untoward effects of alcohol on your liver You can take a supplement called liv-52, N-aceytl cysteine, milk thistle B-complex and Vitamin C.

There is a drug that can stop the drunkeness for about ten minutes. You can find it in the book Smart Drugs by John Morgenthaler

In my health class last year we were told that you should drink a glass of water for every beer. The water dilutes it. I think it depends on who you talk to, though. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on it.

if you water down the alcohol first, youll get a little less drunk only because it forces you to drink it a little bit slower. but if you drink the water afterward, it wont really make a difference. Also, it depends on... okay heres the scenario. you've got three glasses of the same size. one is full to the brim with beer, one is full to the brim with a mix of one part beer and one equal part water, and one is HALF full of just beer. the third one will get you drunker than the second one, because you drink the same amount of beer, but you did it faster because you didnt have to go through all that water, too. but the first one will get you drunker than either of the others, because its the most overall amount of beer.

Everyone is actually correct, It will NOT dilute the alcohol but it IS beneficial to you as it re hydrates the body, So, no affect on the alcohol but helps the body to repair itself after the alcohol has worn off. (does that make sense?)
Hope so.

from my personal experince after i drink i always drink alot of water, and most of the times i never get a hang over. I guess from reading some where drinking takes alot of water out of you, so if you drink alot of water before you sleep or pass out you will do a little better the next morning.

I think there is some type of pill out that keeps you from having a hangover. Not sure if that's what you're thinking of or not though. :)
