I mean, why do people believe in religion or anything spiritual? Or if you believe, why do you?
I don't,
Oh, and no pointless bashing, please! I'm honestly just curious.

People want to believe in something because God created within us an innate need to believe in something bigger and better than ourselves. It's called a soul. The spirit beckons our soul to seek refuge in something that can quench our thirst.

That something can only be found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who died on the cross in order that we may have eternal life with Him. Without Christ there is no other hope.

For Christians it's a belief through repentance and faith. Once a Christian becomes filled with the Holy Spirit, their faith becomes truth. Anyone who has the Holy Spirit in them is changed or "reborn" into a new creation. Their thoughts and deeds are directed toward heaven and being pleasing to God, not being pleasing to the world. It's impossible to explain this conversion to an unbeliever, but a believer knows exactly what I'm talking about. It is real and unmistakeable.

In short:
A Christian believes because God tells them the truth and they receive the truth because they have believed through faith.

I have taken many sciences courses throughout my day and have come to realize that every little tiny detail had to be just perfect i mean to the exact degree or life would not have existed. I have come to believe this is not some coinincedence. There is a God. How is it so hard to believe? If the universe existed forever then certainly God can. He is was and evershall be. I have also studied religion in college

Man cannot attain to his true humanity and acquire peace of mind unless he realises this aim for which he was created. But how can he do this! God, being merciful and Just, has helped him in many ways. He granted him an originally good nature that is inclined to know and serve its true Lord. He granted him a mind that possesses a moral sense and the ability to reason. He made the whole universe a natural book full of signs that lead a thinking person to God. But to make things more specific, to give him more detailed knowledge of his Lord, and to show him in a more detailed manner how to serve Him, God has been sending down verbal messages through His prophets chosen from among men, ever since the creation of man.

My grandmother taught me to pray as a small child, and I could feel the holy spirit. I was blessed to have someone teach me at a young age. My faith has sustained me through hard times, and has allowed me to seek truth in others. I hope that you will seek and find the spiritual wisdom that you need. There is a higher being than us, and He never said that good and evil would not coexist in this world. He leaves our choices up to us, and He is a God of love.

I believe people believe in something or anything because it gives them a sense of purpose. For myself I would not want to live believing that there is no loving, patient, just, Creator of everything! Why would I want to be a good person? It doesn't seem to get you anywhere. I could be a cunning thief, or an adulterer and not feel bad. I believe people try to find something to believe in because there has to be some reason we even feel the difference between good and evil. Or else, who would even care?

I used to doubt, but now I believe in God, Jesus, and everything in the Bible.
Why?
- Because I have seen things happen (and heard) that only could've been possible with the help of a Higher Power.
- Every single time I have needed help with no place to go and got down in earnest to pray, God has sent my help. Sometimes it doesn't come right when I want it, but it's always right on time.
In other words, I've felt the hand of God, and I have seen God move in many ways. That is why I believe.

It makes people feel better. If you got dumped it is easy to say and believe that it was gods plan. This will make you feel better. But the truth of the matter is that the other person did not want you anymore! I dont like to believe...I like to know!! Big Diffrence. People believe in Santa Claus and god/s. I know that there is a creator,l but I do not know who or what the creator is. I know that there is a creator because I see the creation every day. I do not have to believe that there is a creation.

Well i feel the same way but with a twist to yours. I do think that there was someone in the beginning and I think there is an end coming. God is there. He is in everyone. I am not spiritual by far but we had to have gotten here some how. My dad always said it does not matter what church you go to it matters what you have in your heart.
