If they started all of the sudden try to think of something in your life that you changed recently. For me it was the liquid dish soap. I was using blue dawn for a long time and one day couldn't find it and bought some yellow crap from Sun. I thought since I was getting hives all over my body that it couldn't be something I was just getting on my hands. I heard that it didn't matter because my whole body was having the reaction to something local so I got rid of the soap. Within a day or two the hives were gone.

depends on the hives.. go to the doc to make sure the hives aren't a result of a serious reaction or condition.
otherwise medications may be prescribed or suggestions to over the counter treatments.
some hives aren't as bad as others... some can just be kept dry and clean and will clear up in 2 weeks.
others can damage the organs and skin.
you can research more on hives online key it up in google.com

Hives are an allergic reaction to something, usually food, which causes an over-release of histamine in the blood stream.
Take an over the counter medication, like Benedryl or Claritan. The generic versions will work just as well.
To get comfortable while it kicks in, turn the AC up WAY HIGH or take a cold shower.

Since I can't see if other responses have already been posted, here goes: You can't get rid of them; the histamine that is being released in those welts and bumps has only one place to go--out! So, you can only manage the symptoms until the swellings are gone: Mild to moderate, use Benadryl or other allergy medicines, a warm (not hot!) bath, and calamine lotion or collodial oatmeal wash for the itch. Severe--of course, you'd call your doctor or go to an emergency room.

One must first decide whether those hives are an allergic reaction, or an illness.
Then based on that decision, one must consult a doctor.
email me if you know.

My partner takes benadryl, and uses witch hazel topically, until the antihistamine kicks in . . .

TRY SOME ANTI ITCH OVER THE COUNTER LOTION. IT SHOULD HELP. DON'T ITCH. HIVES ARE USUALLY FROM NERVES OR SOMETHING YOU ATE THAT YOUR ALLERGIC TO.
