Talk to a teacher that you feel comfortable with. Explain the situation and see if when you do not have homework you can leave your books somewhere in her room. That can help with the heavy load.
I have a couple kids who leave some books in my room and stop by to get them on the way to another class or to lunch. They too cannot get to their locker in time.
Can the guidance counselor switch you to another locker?
Finish school. It is necessary. Education is about the only thing that can give you a chance to help the financial problems.
Find out what you missed at school and do your best to make it up. School can be the key to a better life. Just think about how you can help your grandparents if you graduate and get a good job!

Get over it kid, we all have to go through something at school. So what if you have to walk "like five blocks" to school? I have to walk EVERYWHERE because my family doesn't own a car, but you don't see me threatening to just throw my future away. This means spending an hour, if not more, going just to the basic store to buy food and then carrying it all back.
If you have no time to go to your locker in the morning then leave earlier. Do some of your homework during lunch so you can have study time at home and then you won't have to bring so many books back and forth with you.
Fail this grade? Please! School hasn't even been in session that long and you're already willing to give up now? If you quit so easily over school, what makes you think you'll do any better in a college (where you have to pay)? How about a job? Daily life as a whole?
Learn to walk faster. Your other class mates can get to class; there is no reason why you cannot. I often have classrooms the entire school apart, but I still make it on time.
Get a bigger backpack to put all your stuff in. Trust me, those backpacks exist. I own one myself and, even though it's over half my size, it can fit four texts books, binders, notebooks, dictionaries, calculators, et cetera and so forth easily.
I highly doubt that every single day you need all four text books with you. Ask a teacher if you might store the text book in his/her room so you won't be late and have to worry about going to your locker.

Talk to a guidance counselor and explain the situation. I know their inital answer was no bus could come, but perhaps if they knew how serious the situation was they would make an exception. Either that or see if a friend could pick you up on their way to school. I would think it would be better to still try, and be a few minutes late, than to have to drop out. If you do decide to, definitely go to the Community College though, because it'll probably help a lot.

WHAT? Oh my god! 15! 15! And you are already thinking about dropping out? I lived 1/4 mile from my school and after katrina I couldn't get a bus and no one could take me! So, I had to get up at 5 in the morning just to make it to school on time by 9. And I had every book and notebook/binder for every class. When your 16 you can get a car! You can work and buy a car to drive you to school! Don't throw away your life because of a walk. I failed my senior year thanks to that hurricane. Not fair! But I am back in school and I STILL HAVE TO WALK! People have it worse off than you and they aren't throwing away their life. GEDs suck compared to a diploma.
Think about your future. Your kids. Your dreams, man. Don't throw it away like that.

i think you need to stop making excuses for your being behind and get your butt into gear ... your grandparents would be very disappointed in you for using them as an excuse and dropping out of school ... invest in a back pack and enjoy a little excercise on the way ... talk to your teachers about getting caught up, school just started they should be able to help you. Quitting and getting a GED is not the same as a HS Diploma and it will won't be easy to get into college with just that.

Why don't you get a rolling backpack. Post your needs on craigslist.org with your situation. Somebody will come through with an extra if you don't have the money. My guess is you can find the money if you have enough money for a computer and to be on the net. Maybe a public computer you used, but given the time of the post you probably have one. Finish high school

So, your saying the Community College is closer to walk? I hope you not going to ask a question about how to lose weight. There nothing wrong with a GED, many successful people have GED's and it a shorter walk.

Okay, I say stick it out and finish school. whatever problems you are having going to hs will only intensify when you enter college and your teachers donot care. the school year just started where i am at and this is true in most of the us. i donot know if you are in us but if you are talk to your guidance counselor. see if he/she can help rearrange your schedule so you go in a little later (most highschools allow students to start second period instead of first.) also talk to teachers and explain health pronblems of your family, most teachers will give you school work to take home with you to catch up and even if someone is in hospital they will let you do it while you are away or when you come back. there are only small percentage of teachers that will not try to work with you if you honestly and truly work at it. this will not be easy but it is definately worth it. if you need help with understanding homework just post it here and we will be glad to help.
