those are all malt beverages, theyre not made with rum or vodka.

It's a strawberry/passionfruit malt beverage. What they mean by "malt beverage" is like beer, but not really...it starts out like beer, only without hops (what give beer its bitterness) and then they filter it ninety bazillion times to get all the flavor out, and then add the desired flavors...in this case, strawberry and passionfruit.

It would seem a whole lot easier to just water down rum or vodka to the same alcohol level and then add flavors. However, with the awkward tax laws regarding distilled spirits vs. brewed beverages, it's still cheaper to put the "malt liquor" through all the extra steps than to just pour a couple drops of neutral alcohol into the mix...go figure.
