so many dogs, especially small breeds have horrible teeth, and are often in alot of pain, and this goes unnoticed by the owners. please have your dogs teeth cleaned once a year!! open your dogs mouth and look at the teeth, esp. back molars. dogs can die from infections and abcess teeth. also dont let your dog get matted! if you have a dog that requires grooming please get it done every 4-8 weeks. so many people that have money just let their dogs get in horrible condition, it is really freaking sad.

You must be either a vet tech or a groomer. I have seen both problems. As a groomer I preach both problems to my clients. Most people are ignorant of what either problem can do. Both bad teeth and matting can be very painful and unhealthy for the dog.

I have 2 brittanys age 14 and one will be 16 never have had thier teeth cleaned. they get rawhide chews and carrots dipped in peanut butter as a treat they will even try a small piece of apple dipped and you can take a rough wash rag and start cleaning the teeth when young each nite. the washrag does better than the doggie tooth brush and the dogs dont have to have anesthetic which is somewhat of a risk. you must start this at an early age for it to be benifical. to each his own ps the rough wash rag stimulates the gums also just be gentile and dont rub to hard

I know! We take our dog to get its teeth cleaned once a month and her breath doesnt smell nearly as bad as our neighbors dog. Also there are treats out there that help "clean" their teeth. Anything helps!

I know this isnt really a question, but also, there are things like brushing kits to help clean their teeth and brush them every week. (they say on the package once a week is best), and dental breath tabs are also great to have around, and once they get used to them they like them alot. there is also dog food that adhires to dental hygeine, and furballs ect, and dog treats. to go along with what you had mentioned.

My boys have to have good teeth! We do protection training so they use their teeth to 'work'! Their teeth are well looked after!
