I don't think there is a liability for the members at all. The church should have some sort of insurance to cover injuries, especially if it is a child care you pay for. Hopefully this wasn't a serious injury and the child is fine. The church in some instances is responsible. The one thing I have never really been fond of is the fact that usualy there aren't certified people working them. I know it might be awkward pursuing legal actions against the house of God, so pray on it.

The church probably has insurance. If it is a legitimate injury of a child that has been caused by unsafe conditions or irresponsible staff, I'd request the church submit an insurance claim to cover the expenses if I couldn't afford it.

First of all, it's not a dumb question. Secondly, I agree with the others that they probably have insurance. Make sure you get proof of what happened, including a doctors report. Do you sign something before the child goes into the care? Read over it as it may say they will accept no responsibility (however I think negligence isn't included).

Good luck. I remember when a church around here had a little girl die in their daycare... they left her on the bus! Her family didn't get much out of that I don't think -- they pinned the whole thing on one teacher, and she got off easy. The state needs to hold these centers to the same standard as any other daycare. First, though, they should raise that standard. But then, I'm in FL and kids aren't important here, only retirees.

The few circumstances you have heard approximately in touch decrease than a million% of Catholic priests, and maximum handed off 40-50 years in the past. almost all have been gay seductions of adlescent boys, no longer newborn abuse. The numbers of sexual abuse circumstances have been comparable in prevalence cost to Protestant and Jewish clergy and correctly decrease than the prevalence of abuse with the help of public college instructors. in line with those crimes, the Catholic Church bumped off all the abusers from ministry and instituted the main stringent screening and practise courses of any church. as a result, i've got faith confident in asserting that there are no sexual abusers in energetic ministry interior the Catholic Church immediately. Cheers, Bruce

The church has liability, but I am not sure how much. I would suggest that you consult your attorney, and also I would sit down and talk with the pastor of your church to see what can be done.

the church should have an insurance policy, and that would cover any liablity on behalf of the church. I am an insurance agent and if the church has a liability policy, which it should....it will be covered. Dont stress...call your insurance agent.

Its like any other business... Churches and businesses all have insurance.... Its probably a little hard to act on it because its a Church but surely they understand if its something medical then you can get their insurance to pay for it.... No shame in that

The Church is separate from the day care - the day care should have some kind of insurance - but the Church is separate from the day care.

if you went directly to the church.. your congregation.. they might compensate you for any damages concurred on their property.. that's what insurance liability is for. All churches have insurance for that purpose.
