My friend just IMed me that she was going to kill herself. I was trying to convincem her not to from 5-7 pm. Then in the middle of the converstion she just signed off. I called her house but no one anwsered. I dont want to call the police cause suicide's illegal in the US. and if she got arested she would probably try again.
I think this is partial my falt becasue last may i did the same- minus the sign off. i ended up going to ST. Vincents after swalowing 12 tynols. the docter had said i almost did it. I ended up going to a phyc ward for 1 week, and the an outpaitent program for 2 months.
But back to subject, what should i do?

CALL 911 RIGHT NOW! If you don't get her professional help she could die. She won't get arrested, they'll take your friend to a hospital where she'll get help. What do you think you will accomplish by not calling anyone?
And anyone who is suicidal should seek help.

I had the same sort of thing happen. It was me (female) and two guy friends of mine (from on line only) who were 'seeing' each other. (yes, the two guys)... anyway, the one I didn't talk to quite as much was much younger and one day he said he was going to kill himself (I don't remember any details, it's been a while).. point of the matter is, there wasn't really any way we could help him or prove or disprove it. We didn't have any of the real info for him. And since we didn't do anything to cause him to act on it, we were not in trouble anyway. What your friend did was not wrong. Everyone has usernames and such, and simply she found out info about him she didn't like and broke up with him. All you can do is just wait and see if he writes again. If not, move on. If for some reason he eventually did kill him self, it's not from anything you did, he had problems enough to begin with.

In this case, you should probably contact her parents, and if you can't, call the police. She may be making an attempt to take her life, and if this is the case, these next few minutes are critical. She may be in such a state that she could be helped, but you may never know if you don't call. So please, call her parents and then the police if you cannot get through to anyone.

Honey it doesn't matter where you are if you want to hurt yourself you will not be arrested. She needs to go to the hospital to be evaluated by a doctor to see if she need inpatient care if she is for real. I really doubt that 12 tylenols would cause you to overdose. I know a young girl that ate like 12 midols by trying to do herself in. Do your friend a favor if you can't get hold of one of her parents to tell them that she wants to kill herself you are not snitching on her it means that you care enough to tell someone that she needs help. If you can't reach them call the police immediately. She will not be arrested just taken to a hospital for help. Would you rather have her do it and feel bad later? Tell your mom if you can't do it and have her call her parents and let them know that she wants to commit suicide.

you both need dto stop playing with your lives like that it is a cry for attention. i know, been there or tried to get the attenetion. so did my aunt. if i were you i would go there and call her home first. she may be trying to see if you care. she wants someone to care, and dont know how to get that. dont know where the love was missed in her family or if there is step brothers or sisters or mother or father involved, but she needs someone to stand by her side and let her know that she is worth something. call her parents to see if she ok then try to get there. you may need to call 911 just so that she can get the help needed. remember how you felt and what you went through. she needs the help

call the cops!!! or someone u know who lives right near her or get ur butt over there NOW! at least if she gets in trouble she won't be dead!! Where r her parents? How do u think ur parents would have felt if u had succeeded n then they found out later that someone had known n coulda helped or saved u! Take pity on them pleez. Do something, don't just sit around on yahoo, MOVE!!!!!

YES call the authorities 9/11 if you know where she lives they can contact the police and medical help where she is and go to her house immediatly.

oh good god...is human life more important than an arrest? always report stuff like this to the police - it is nothing to be screwed around with. and if someone is thinking of suicide it is on them not on you.

Can you call her parents? Also, calling the police will not get her arrested, they will take her to a hospital where she can get help. Will she get mad at you for this? Maybe, but atleast she will live another day to be mad at you.
