Work provides much more than income for most people. It is how they relate to others, have something to discuss after they get home, and how they define themselves.
Winning the lottery can open a person to a life of boredom if all their friends and family are at work.

It is probably their personality type. Winning the lottery doesn't change how they are, so when they quit the job they've always hated, they simply don't know what to do. If they were the sort of people who knew what they'd do and could occupy their themselves, then they'd have most-likely already quit that job.
Likewise, many lottery winners say they'll start their own business. But let's face it, if they were the type of people to run their own business or do their own thing, they would be doing it already.

Because all of a sudden they are sitting in a pile of money that they really don't know what to do with. I can see how it would get boring after a while...I'd probably keep my job after I won the lottery, or at least find a job that I really liked, since I wouldn't have to worry about the pay.

Some people have such a complaint. Many others don't. It really depends on the person. Our society, unfortunately, programs us from childhood with a mentality suited to a worker. Some people find it harder than others to break out of this mind set.

Because they get bored of like... Its like playing a game on Xbox. If u use cheats ur gunna be like, "oh wow this is soooooo cool!!!" But then after u see all the parts of the game I guarantee ya u will get bored of the game! Ur gunna end up not playing it.
Similar to winning a lottery. U win, u enjoy an dthen u get bored.. lol

because they've ran out of hobbies, or got bored doing them too much.
most of the fun in something is that you've had to work and wait for it, that's why people like paris hilton are so in your face and annoying, they get everything when they want it, so they struggle to find something that entertains them.
i prefer people like that winning it anyway, what pisses me off is people that don't quit their jobs when they win, and live in the same house, and have only spent 120 pound of it and don't know what to buy.

why would they quit thier jobs!!!
oh yeah, they get money obsessed and forget that there is more to life than $$$$.
All I know is that, If I were them I would live as If I had never won, but instead do the things I have always dreamed of, like sing and perform.
that would be killer!

People need purpose in their lives. For most of us that purpose is making a living. Winning the lotto eliminates that purpose. For those who don't retire to something, they can often find that money a somewhat empty experience.

Maybe it's because, after the euphoria of winning wears off, they find out that they have nothing to do. They might be able to stave it off if they find something worthwhile in the community to do.
