At Petsmart they sell these things called puppy pads and there is a certain scent in them that they will pee on. We got a small little Maltese and we got that and put it where we wanted here to go. It works and at first you'll need to take her there to show her. Also, I got one of the Christmas bell necklaces (you can probably get one at Michaels crafts store or Garden Ridge now) and hang it on the front door knob. I would pick her up and ring it with her little paw and take her outside to show her to ring it when she needed to go potty! She got the hang of it pretty quickly even though she couldn't reach it for a while, she knew the concept. Then after she could reach, no matter where we are in the house, you can hear her ring that bell to let us know she has to go!! Good luck!!

The only sure way is to keep the puppy in a small crate/ cage. The puppy will not potty in the cage. He should be let out to go potty several times a day while he is little. A few weeks of this he should be trained. If you fail to do this now, trust me, you will regret it down the road. Try reading some sites on the web on puppy training. Good luck.

This is a sure fire way to potty train your puppy. I know because its what I do with all my puppies. First and for most you can't be lazy. You should start by taking them out every 15 to 20 minutes. I know it sounds a lot, but a puppy's bladder isn't very big. As soon as it goes to the bathroom outside praise him like crazy. If you have to leave or at night create train him. Just him his blanket, his safe toy and a small dish of water. No food. As soon as you get home let him out. Then feed him. Any time you feed him, take him out as soon as he is done eating. Make sure to praise him when he goes to the bathroom out side. Eventually he will learn his bladder and start to ask to go out. Like I said it sound like a lot but you and he will benefit. As for the trainning pads, NO NO NO BAD IDEA because you are giving him permission to go in the house and you don't want that. Good luck, and don't be lazy.

Like litter box training? Just keep an eye on your pup and take him to your spot often often often. He'll get the message.
