Each canine IS one-of-a-kind. I work for a vet and metacam is among the NSAID suffering relievers that we prescribe for anguish (together with arthritis). We use a few exceptional drugs to deal with discomfort for the actual fact that similar to asprin works higher than tylonol for some people now not each affliction reliever is amazing for every canine. As for whether it absolutely relieves the soreness or not, it's inconceivable to tell with dogs as they're more commonly so bad about telling us when matters hurt in the first place. If it really works on your dog, then it without doubt will make a difference in his first-class of existence. Does it work right away? Again, that depends upon the person. Oral medicinal drugs need a while to be absorbed into the physique so no it's not going to work as soon as your dog swallows it. But if it does work then it should relieve his discomfort the primary time he takes it. You fairly should recall performing some dietary supplimentation moreover to the metacam. Glucosamine and omega fatty acids with vitamin E in detailed are high-quality for naturally assisting discomfort relievers. Nutrition E/omega fatty acids have anti-inflammatory residences with the intention to go a long way in lowering agony prompted by means of irritation of delicate tissue precipitated by means of arthritis. There is some proof that vitamin C (specifically Ester-C) may additionally have robust anti-inflammatory houses.

I just received some homeopathic tabs for my 22 yr old cat who has severe arthritis. I will treat her with one tab a day for a week or so and see if this helps her at all. Of course if there is any adverse reaction I will stop immediately.

I have permission from her homeopathic vet to try this. The remedy is Rhus toxicodendron (poison ivy). The vial was $17.95, only $11 really except the lab had to mail it to me.

You can try glucosamine. But depending on the severity of your dog's arthritis, it may not be enough. I had one dog who was on Rimadyl for about 6 years, but I've now got a dog who was diagnosed with the beginnings of arthritis when he was 3. He's been on glucosamine as a preventative and is 9 now with never a problem. You should probably get your vet's opinion though - you don't want your dog to be in pain.

What the first answer said... glaucosamine and chondritin 500mg. You can even use the human kind it doesn't matter at all except in price (human kind is much cheaper). I give it to my dogs everyday, two tables in the morning and one at dinner time. Recommended by my vet. You can never give too much, it is not a medicine just a supplement.

I found it really cheap at BJ's wholesale Club....Good luck

My dog tore his ACL in one of his knees and he has had joint issues since.

We put him on a doggy Glucosimine/Chondroitin (sorry..don't know the spelling) supplement called Cosequin.

It worked wonders. He went from limping all the time to acting completely normal.
