I am a clinical psychiatrist who does not reside in the United States.
My professional opinion is that you need to stop thinking, "my room mate is going to move out". Be assertive an ask him if he is making arrangements to move out. I am sure that he will give you an honest response, being that you are not husband & wife. (Only room mates).
Explain to him the financial situation that you will be in if he does move out. Ofcourse he may not care one way or the other.
Atleast you will have a straight answer about his moving out.
Las Vegas, is 24 hours 7 day per week, 365 days per year around the clock work.
If you are not able to afford to run an add in your local paper for a room mate, post an add at the local university the gender that you want for a room mate. Usually the university has staff who's only job is to find room mates for students.
Place an add in the local stores if they permit you.
Plus I really don't see how living in a place like Las Vegas that you will not be able to find a second job that is part time to help you on a financial level.
When you have your feet on solid ground, it would be a very good idea to start putting away money every week into a savings account for emergencies.
Wish you the very best.

Seems to me that if you are sure your apartment mate is moving on and you cannot afford the place on your own... either be looking for a new roommate or be looking for a new place that you can afford and move before he does. And if you get the chance get some counseling to find out how to do a good relationship yourself before moving in with someone again because that is the beginning of learning how to do social relationship comfortably.

You could always move into a cheap motel till you find a place you can afford. I know it's not the nicest suggestion but some of those places have cheap weekly rates. It would at least buy you time to look for a place of your own or find another room mate. Good luck!

Well i don't know what you do and how much money you make. I can tell you this... you do live in a very expensive city, and you need to have a good paying job. If you don't have good paying...if you are not doing anything like going to school part time....get a second job. Then even if he wants to live let him go. That is the only thing i can tell you good luck oh and other thing don't shop or buy something you don't need i know i am a lady and we tend to do that.

you need to start looking for a 1 bedroom or if they have basement apartments in Las Vegas, not sure if they do , Here in New York they do,) they are usually alot cheaper ,even a studio, u need to look for another job, because you may have to work 2 job until you can scale down your apartment. i hope everything works out for you :)

You will have to:
a) move to a place you can afford
b) find another, better paying job
c) find another person to move in
Don't bother selling stuff, as that is only a short term fix and what would you do the next month?

Can you find another roommate? You could put ads in the paper. If you can't make it on your own, you may have to move somewhere where you can.

why don't you ask him if he plans on moving to give you some notice and then you can run an ad for another room mate.

You may try to look for a place that needs light maintenance/cleaning that they would include your rent as part of your wage.
