I don't know, I got mine when I was 16. Buses, trains, and cabs get into accidents too. Oh, and even pedestrians get hit now and then. Nothing is guaranteed in life. Were you driving the vehicle when you were 12? Maybe the person driving was being careless or not paying attention or was distracted and that is what caused the accident. It wasn't the car, it was the driver.

Hey, i'm 23 and i don't have my liscense and i'm currently in the process of getting one. it's not embarassing, it all depends on the person and the location. Obviously living in nyc everything is within reach. I decided to get mine now since I'm in the business world and i hate bumming rides and commuting. The oldest person in my driving class was 39!
I guess it's this stigma that you HAVE to get ur liscense when you're in high school..go at ur own pace..

You don't need a driver's license in NYC. If you moved to another place that was more rural then you would probably want to consider getting one due to the lack of public transportation.

I hear that no one in New York drives anyway.
But you are missing something. I love driving, it's a passion, and not to have a license is a punishment to me.
Totally your prerogative, though. If you don't need to, where's the embarrassment in that? How'd'ya get liquor, though? Don't you get ID'd at only 23?

It would also act as a good ID and you do need one of those. Some day you might want to get out of NY. Don't know why any one would want to be there anyway.

Nope, if you don't need it and you don't want it then it is no use to you. Besides you said everything is in walking distance....
I am 18 and I am not fully liscenced yet so i commute to college in Toronto and there everything is in walking distance...not so much where I live but it is fairly good.

it actual relies upon on the country or state. In British English, they say "utilising licence". interior the U. S., we frequently say "motive force's license", however the stable version in some states is "motive force license". basically look on the front of your license and spot what it says. this is the stable version on your state.

If you don't need to drive for transportation, then it's fine. It'd be a waste to study and take a test for something you don't need.
