Just curious... Not That I havnt done it before. If your wondering why I put it under religion, thats because Iknow alot of people answer in this catogory. Also this is usually where people get offensive.

I think because the Yahoo Answers format is safe - I mean by that - there is no accountability. One can be a smart a** but no one can call them on it because this is not a give and take chat, or message board. We answer the question with a smart, or sometimes rude remark and we don't have to answer for it. We snicker and move on....I say "we" because I try not to do it, but I have to admit at times....I do.
It makes it awfully easy to act superior or outrageous.

Well, they want points, but feel that there is no way at all they are getting Best Answer, so they answer, but with their own brand of flavor added.
Or, folks just want to shake the bushes, and see what falls out.
Or, They type offensive answers, for the simple reason "They Can"

I answer questions to amuse myself.
Sometimes, I actually provide an honest answer.
But, given the nature of the topic, one person's honesty is the next person's lie or blasphemy.
I don't need any more points, so I can be as honest or as obnoxious as I want. I actively discourage people from giving me "best answer."

I don't answer for points - I don't much care about points. If I say something rude, it's generally not to be mean but because I find it funny and think others will as well. I don't like to make fun of people, but sometimes people say things that are sooo patently stupid that I can't help it.
