The bible preaches that if you live a good life and live by the word of the bible then you will go to a place better than earth. If this is true, then why do people fear death so much?

Lots of reasons..we are human first and irrational fear goes with being human. But there are some real things to fear before we die.....

It may really, really HURT.

It may really, really be scary before we get out of this world.

We must face the unknown ALONE and apart from other humans, such as our moms, dads, husbands, wifes, etc. We feel alone in this.

We are unsure and must trust others to care for us before we get out of this body...and that may be pretty hard to do for many.

AGING can be UGLY.

SICKNESS can be UGLY and PAINFUL.

People get upset while we are trying to die...and that hurts us.

Something that not many think about is that fear is also the bodys way of preservation too. If we have a fear of death we will do certain things to try to stay healthy and avoid bad things which is good to have. Christians know that by dying though we are reborn in Heaven to a new life. Our death is only the death of sin and this we rejoice in. Thanks be to God. All humans end up at Calvary some are on his left--the bad thief and some are on his right---the good one---that stold heaven.

Aim.
Not for this one. I want to die, and that's no joke.

I'm not sure about your premise; "The bible preaches that if you live a good life and live by the word of the bible then you will go to a place better than earth."

My Bible says that the Just shall live by faith.

Christians should not fear death, not if they are certain of their salvation. Death should be seen as the start of everlasting life with Christ and God, not as an end. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. There is nothing to fear for the Christian, either life or death.

Oh, you mean death doesn't have negative connotations for non-Christians?

People to fear death because those who are unsure of their fate after this life. As for me, there is no such thing as death, it is simply passing on into eternal life to the promised land.

It's because we have never experienced death before and the fear of the unknown is what people face.

Real christians do not fear death. It is the time when we get to be with Jesus for eternity... what's to fear? It is something we really look forward to but, we have work to do for God til it is our time...so we are not in a hurry to go... but looking forward to it...

Because people fear the unknown. You can have all the faith in the world, but when it comes down to it... no one wants to die and no one knows what happens when you die. No one wants to get old and sick and leave their loved ones or the Earth.
