I live in Texas too, when you change the title the registration will be put into your name as will the title. They will ask you if it has been use, and if it has they will charge you for the time it has been use. If you think it has been setting for awhile, just tell the clerk that. But like one of the others said make sure you have a good title, with the car sitting for awhile there could be something wrong.

I would suggest that before you purchase your Firebird you call your local Motor Vehicle Department and ask: " If I purchase a vehicle with expired registration, would I be responsible to pay all the past due fees in order to register my car". I don't know about Texas law but in my state you would owe those fees.

not solid information for you i'm afraid - Your company have performed the grimy on you by ability of insisting you sign the preliminary short term contract of 6 Months. You have been basically a functional Tennant to get the valuables off their books for 6 Months - With hindsight you have insisted on signing for no less than a year (exceedingly interior the non-public circumstances you describe). Chalk it up! terrific desires to you & yours.

No. Hand the plates in, and so long as you can provide proof that you own it (receipt from previous owner), re-register it in your own name. Make 100% sure that he/she was the legal owner, and that the vehicle is unencumbered though.

NO, absolutely not.
You have to register the car in your name before you can legally drive it.

Nope. If he's not driving it, he doesn't need to - you've got to register it in your name anyway within ?? days or before you can drive it, so why should he?
