i have been talking to this guy for awhile, it was getting more than friendly, and he has said things that bug the hell out of me, talking about how good someone else looks in a bikini, how hot this or that person is, and referring to having sex with other women in the past. Definitely a jerk?

I think you may be a little touchy here,Even when in a relationship guys will notice other women and make comments.If you two were in a relationship that has been going on for a little while and begin to get serious then talking about his past sexual experiences might not be appropriate,Some people don't mind talking about who they've slept with and what they did,and with guys it's bragging.If it really bothers you you could tell him,but if he's not ready for that kind of relationship it might scare him off.

Either he is really a jerk or just wants to be friends with you and he talks about other women so you get the message that he wants nothing serious. Or, he may be shy and wants to see if you get jealous and show more interest in him than you let on. He may want to take the relationship a step further, he just does not know how. It is up to you. Take the initiative, what can you lose?

In my opinion he's a jerk, or at least someone I wouldn't want to date. Some women don't seem to mind guys talking that way about other women. What's important is what you are comfortable with. If you don't like it, there are plenty of other guys out there, so don't waste time with this one.

What does "getting more than friendly" mean? If you're not in a real relationship with him, you can't get mad because he's looking at other women. Especially if he doesn't actually know how you feel.
There are three ways you can take it:
a) he's trying to make you jealous
b) he's hinting he's not into you
c) he thinks you're "just friends" so he can talk about anything he damn well wants.
Any way you see it, your only option is to suck it up and tell him how you feel, about him and his comments.

Sounds like he may of been getting too close and needed to back off to protect himself, so he started in with all his jerk talk. Men are so silly sometimes and such babies most of the time. Just move on and don't waste your time with his silliness, or you could play along with his little game, if your into game playing. Good Luck!!

yes it is disrespectful but more to the point he probably is a relationship retard or just ignorant. i.e. he does not know how to get things going with you so he makes these comments in the fantasy hope that YOU will take his bait and respond with something equally raunchy. i.e. the bikini thing you would say 'don't you think I look good?" or "you are making me jealous'...

Maybe he doesn't see you as someone who he wants to spendthe rest of his life with or someone who is going to be around for a while. Honestly, if someone meant alot to me I wouldn't be saying things like that, especially when you're around.
