YES YES YES...
Here's why...teen pregnancy is a national problem. Much of the time, teen pregnancy occurs simply because there aren't any contraceptives available to the teens at the time. Either a local clinic that hands out these things free is not close by, or not known of, or the teens have no method of transportation in order to get to the clinic. Many teens attend schools in which skipping a day (to go to the clinic) would result in a automated "your child is not here today" call to the parents' home phone or cell.
Your opposition is going to tell you that handing out condoms in schools in encouraging kids to have sex. Guess what? They are obviously going to do it anyway. You might as well help them prepare for what, for most, will be the inevitable. If a teen does not want to have sex, they won't. Having a condom in their hand is not going to make them say "ooo...a condom...wow...maybe I should go out and use this."
Providing condoms in the schools (annoymously, of course) is a brilliant idea and I am honestly shocked that schools have not been doing this long before now.

I think that by the time kids are in High School they are making their own decisions regardless of what their parents/authority figures say to them. I think coupled with proper sex education that this is a great preventative measure. I also think that they should have informational flyers on abstinence beside the condoms. I had a best friend in High School who provided a bowl of condoms in their bathroom and thought that it was great (even though I was not sexually active at that point in my life)
I also think that a lot of people who are against it don't realize HOW many student in high school actually have sex whether sex ed is taught or not. If free protection from STDs and Pregnancy are available they are more likely to have protected sex. These students are going to make the choice to have sex whether condoms are provided or not.

No, especially not a public school. It is a tax funded organization paid for by the public (parents AND Non-parents).
School should be teaching things that are going to make you self-sufficent, earn a good income and be better citizen.
School is not a pharamacy. Schools should focus on teaching. Schools are not parents nor should they stand in for the parent.
By schools providing condoms, it is condoning an action that parents would not or should not be.
Know why schools won't teach proper sex education or personal finance (or anything else useful)? "The System" wants you to screw up your life so you will always need someone to fix your problems. Those people are politicians. Politicians need you to need them so they will do everything they can to distract you from what you really need to be focussed on... one of those things is getting an education.

I don't think they should be handed out like candy but, I do believe that teenagers should be educated about condoms and other forms of contraception and have condoms readily available. Maybe the school counsellor could keep a box or more in her office incase someone comes in asking for condoms. I don't believe that it's telling teenagers to go out and have sex. Teenagers have sex no matter what you tell them! Those who aren't going to have sex are not going to be influenced by having a condom lying around and those who are going to have sex need to have access to free and affordable condoms. Condoms can be so expensive!

Absolutely not! Giving a *child* (and yes, until you're 18, you are a CHILD) a condom is like saying, "Here, go have sex!" I don't think children should have sex. Most teenagers (myself included, because I lost my virginity as a teenager) don't have any idea what sex is about. It goes WAY deeper than just in out in out climax pull on your pants and go home to dinner with mom dad bro and sis. There's no way to explain to a kid how wonderful sex (or making love) can be when you're IN LOVE and in a committed relationship. Kids should be worried about schoolwork, SATs, college (or trade school) and going to the mall and having fun with their friends. NOT SEX.

Condoms and answers should be available without cost or judgment. At schools or not. The consequences of not using a condom are severe and can be permanent. If I had dating teens, I would have them here and talk to my girls about the emotional entanglements that sex causes as well as the physical ramifications.
But, teens who want to have sex will likely have sex so they should have access to protection.

I don't think so because first of all that would be kind of saying the school condones sex before marriage. Many parents would probably be very against this. The parents might feel that making them available at school would be not only condoning but promoting sex. Besides they are readily available at any family planning center.

I never thought they should be. But in today's teenage cultures, I guess it is best to make them available to students. If any high schooler is going to have sex, then it may as well be protected sex. At first, I thought it would be like condoning to it happening amongst teens, but I don't believe that is the case now. Hope my answer helps.

Give a teenage boy a Penthouse and I guarantee he will find a secluded spot a yank his chain. Yeah, 9 out of 10 will even without the Penthouse but why make it easier?
Why would handing condoms out to students be any different?

this is the subject, an identical one as no longer giving out "sparkling" needles to addicts & nevertheless seeing the AIDS #'s upward push. some people think of with the help of allowing get right of entry to of condoms to severe college babies , it rather is merchandising sexual encounters. Telling them, " right here's a condom , circulate have intercourse", isn't the factor, it rather is going to likely be" Be secure while you're.". The"powers that ought to be" prefer to evangelise "abstinence" with blinders directly to the upward push of adlescent age pregnancies & STDs. yet, in spite of the fact that, why is it as much as the colleges, shouldn't the mother and dad have some hand in coaching or offering know-how to their teenagers approximately this difficulty?
